Human Capital refers to the knowledge, skills and abilities that people need to do their jobs. ICT companies will gain a sustainable competitive advantage through the collective skills, knowledge and attributes of their employees. ICTAM is committed to assisting the ICT industry in Manitoba develop its Human Capital to increase productivity and growth.
Organizations are facing a labour shortage and brain drain due to retirements and fewer skilled workers. Attracting new talent and passing along the experience and wisdom of the more seasoned professionals are critical challenges. In an ever-changing workforce with increasing generational diversity, companies must redefine succession plans and implement effective planning strategies. Above all, businesses must assess how they deal with and value their workers. If they don’t, someone else will.
Human Capital development focuses on recruiting, supporting and investing in people. Companies do this by providing education, training, coaching, mentoring, internships, organizational development and human resource management. In particular, learning and skills development is vital for motivating and retaining employees. Building a higher level of capability in the workforce leads to competent and committed individuals achieving peak performance.
ICTAM is actively engaged in addressing the development and sustainability of Manitoba ICT Human Capital.
