Work IT, ICTAM’s new program designed to help meet the demand for skilled and experienced professionals in the Manitoba ICT sector will bring together employers with real vacancies and skilled internationally trained workers already in Manitoba to bridge the skills gap.
Work IT is a comprehensive employer-focussed program that will support internationally trained workers in identifying their skills in relation to job profiles provided by Manitoba ICT companies with the overall aim of matching them with employers who need their skills to fill real vacancies.
Working closely with employer and internationally trained worker participants Work IT will provide opportunities for pre-employment and on the job training to fill any skills gaps identified. A mentor and networking program will also support skill development for ITWs who are hired and their employers.
A key focus of the program will be the development of employers’ capacity in integrating internationally trained workers and as such a program of training to develop skills and knowledge in this area has been developed.
Work IT will use a variety of technology tools to support the program including an online skills identification application and e-learning delivery of skills development components.
